Helena Bonastre is a film and commercial director based in London. She has a versatile background in theatre (Eòlia Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, Barcelona), fine arts (Barcelona Academy of Arts) and filmmaking (Met Film School, London). Above all, she defines herself as a visual storyteller and she likes to combine all these art forms in her work. In fact, she also works as a storyboard and concept artist and she always develops the artwork of her own films.
Her first short film El viatge (2014) was shot in the Netherlands and won the FILMIN Award and the 20 Years with CCCB Award at the Gàndules’14 short film competition at the CCCB (Barcelona) and she has recently directed the short film La vida (2015), which was entirely shot with a phone and was finalist at the Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (2015). She has just completed her most ambitious short film, FRANZ (2016), which is now entering the festival circuit.
